elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><p>Nosy Be Marina, Madagascar's only marina, is located in the Baie du Crat\u00e8re, on the historic site of the sugar company SIRAMA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A little history:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first sugar cane cuttings were planted on Nosy Be in 1650. Rice, coffee and cocoa were already being grown here.<\/p>\n<p>In 1923, the Dzamandzar sugar refinery and rum distillery became operational.<\/p>\n<p>In 1930, sugar was Nosy Be's third most important crop after ylang ylang and pepper.<\/p>\n<p>A quay, two warehouses, a crane and conveyor belts are installed on the Crater site. Sacks of refined sugar are transported there by train from Dzamandzar, stored in the warehouses and then unloaded onto the conveyor belts. They are then transported by boat to Majunga for export.<\/p>\n<p>In 2008, La Marina de Nosy Be was created.<\/p>\n<p>SIRAMA is closing its doors in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>The marina is gradually becoming more organised, welcoming sailors of all nationalities.
